Acts 9:36- 41
…When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up…
Many times throughout our walk with God, we are going to be faced with impossible and hopeless situations. Voices will rise up around us speaking about the impossibility of the situation. Those voices will point to past failures and past works that are now just a shadow of what once was. You need to shut out those voices, you need to remove them from your midst. Do not give them any place. Like Peter they need to be put out, and then we take our eyes off the problem and get our eyes on the problem-solver, Jesus Christ!
God’s strength and power is made evident when we humbly recognize and admit our inability, our lack of strength, and our hopelessness without Him. Peter knew the moment when victory came, the moment that he had a breakthrough in prayer. He knew God had heard him and that God would answer. At this point, Peter could have got up, walked out into the midst of those people that had cried and wept over the hopelessness of the situation and proudly said, “I have spoken with the Lord and He is going to do a mighty work.” No, at this point, Peter, who had turned away from the dead body that was there and turned to God and knelt in prayer, got up and turned toward the dead body of Dorcas (Tabitha by interpretation) and said, “Tabitha arise.” There were no grand theatrics, just the belief and full revelation knowledge that within Him was the LIFE! And he was going to speak Life into that dead and hopeless situation.
We are not to join in the chorus of those who look at the hopeless situation and celebrate what was and give no hope for the future. Instead the treasure that has been deposited into us is to give hope for a future. It is given to us to speak Life, Jesus Christ, into our dead and hopeless situations. It is time for to get back on our knees, get our eyes off of our problems, and focus on Him who gives Life. The revival we long for must come from within us first before it will spread out to those around us.
God Bless you all Beloved.
