Are you an enemy of God?

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4

James uses such strong language in this passage. I wonder what he is so angered about? Although he directed it to the saints of his day, I can’t help but wonder if he was thinking of our age?

How many Christians have traded in their prayer time and communion with God for TV and internet time. How many have turned in the counsel of God for the advice of Dr. Phil, Oprah, and the new-age knowledge seekers. How many have turned aside the Word of God, for the ungodly counsel of the world’s wise men? How many cherish the fellowship of ungodly relationships, rather than savouring the covenant relationship of the Almighty God? How many would rather hang on to a dark evil in their hearts than give it over to a Holy God? How many love their sin more than they love God? What has happened to the thirst and hunger for righteousness? Righteousness, holiness, and purity before God should be sought like a man dying in the desert desperately seeking water to live!

When will the time of fun and games be over, and the seriousness of seeking God begin? Look around you and see that time is short. Is your soul crying out and burdened for the lost? When was the last time you wept before the Lord for the souls of the lost around you? Do you walk in fellowship with the lost and unsaved and never warn them of the wrath of God and His saving grace and love for them? If you are not burdened for them, then it is time to cry out to Jesus to burden you for their souls. Don’t seek ministry — Seek Jesus! Lay down your sins, lay down your life, lay it all down for HIS Glory!

Come sinner, Come Saint! Come before its too late.

Come, ye sinners, poor and needy,
Weak and wounded, sick and sore;
Jesus ready stands to save you,
Full of pity, love and power.
